This team focuses on real estate development, property management, and sustainability initiatives, playing a key role in building vibrant communities around BART stations while promoting environmental stewardship. Why participate? - Earn while you innovate: BART interns have excelled in the Introducing Youth to American Infrastructure (iyai+) Grand Innovation Challenge, winning top prizes in 2023 and 2024 and First Place in 2025. Competing with teams across North America, they developed innovative solutions to make public transit more sustainable and accessible—and they’ll do it again in 2026. - Compete for cash prizes: Winning teams can earn up to $1,000 per member. Who should apply? We are looking for creative and forward-thinking college students and recent graduates (enrolled within the past 12 months) age 18+ who are passionate about public transit and eager to solve real-world challenges. Program details - Internship period: May 4 to Aug. 27, 2026 - Time commitment: 20 hours/week - BART 2026 Pay Rates: - Undergrad – Freshman & Sophomore: $22.50/hr - Undergrad – Junior & Senior: $25/hr - Graduate Students: $27.50/hr - Eligibility: Must be between 18 to 25 years old as of April 1, 2026. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college program at an accredited college or university, or individuals who were enrolled in college within the past 12 months. Engineer Internship Thank you for your interest in the 2026 Engineering Internship. Due to a high volume of interest, we have reached the maximum number of applicants, and the posting is now closed. The paid Engineer Internship Program for collegiate engineering students and post-grads provides valuable training and hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment. The eight-week program begins in June and culminates in a final project presentation in August. Why participate? Our engineering interns partner with tenured, highly skilled BART engineers working on projects within the planning, design, and execution phases at various BART facilities. Program details - Internship Period: June 15 to Aug. 7, 2026 - Weekly Time Commitment: 40hrs/week (In-Person) - BART 2026 Pay Rates: - Junior or Senior in an undergraduate engineering program - $36.50/hr - Post-Graduate in an engineering program $40/hr - Eligibility: - Must be a currently enrolled student entering their final graduating year at an accredited college/university actively pursuing a bachelors degree OR a currently enrolled student pursuing a masters degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: - Civil Engineering - Construction Engineering - Computer Engineering - Computer Science - Electrical Engineering - Industrial Engineering - Mechanical Engineering - Mechatronics Engineering - Structural Engineering - Systems & Train Control Engineering - Must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average - Must be a currently enrolled student entering their final graduating year at an accredited college/university actively pursuing a bachelors degree OR a currently enrolled student pursuing a masters degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: Testimonials “I learned many things during my 8 weeks here at Bart, but the most meaningful "lesson learned" came from working in an interdisciplinary team, learning to play off one another's strengths and collaborating on ideas that would not have occurred to me on my own.
