Fixed-Term Contracts
The most common type of contract at UNESCO is the Fixed-Term contract. These contracts, usually lasting for two years, are renewed based on individual performance.
Fixed-Term contracts offer an opportunity to contribute to UNESCO’s mission while focusing on career growth, development, and advancement within our organization. These positions come with a complete benefits package, including health insurance, pension plans, and allowances for dependents.
You may find opportunities with a Fixed-Term contract in the following staff categories:
- International Professional
- National Professional
- General Services
Project Appointment Contracts
With opportunities available in more than 190 countries, UNESCO Project Appointments give you the chance to enhance your career and be immersed in different cultures while contributing to building a better future.
Project Appointments are short- and medium-term assignments contributing to the implementation of innovative international projects in education, science, culture, communication, and information. Such positions contribute to building UNESCO's idea of peace and prosperity for all, preserving the world heritage, developing education, and sustaining development.
With defined contract durations, Project Appointments offer flexibility while ensuring your work remains impactful. These positions are ideal for professionals seeking short- to medium-term engagements with a global purpose.
Temporary Contracts
If you are interested in contributing your expertise to UNESCO on a project or temporary assignment, a Temporary Contract may be the right fit for you.
Temporary contracts are typically issued for a 6-12-month period and are commonly used when there is an immediate staffing need or when rapid impact is required.
These contracts offer a valuable opportunity to engage in UNESCO’s global work environment.
They allow you to gain hands-on experience and make meaningful contributions without a long-term commitment.
Consultant Contracts
Are you an expert in your field? UNESCO offers Individual Consultant positions for professionals who want to work on specific projects or assignments.
These roles are usually project-based and provide flexibility in terms of duration and workload. Consultants bring their expertise to a project and may work independently or alongside a UNESCO team.
This type of contract is ideal for individuals who prefer to work on a project-by-project basis.
Service Contracts
Service Contracts (SC) are designed for individuals with specific technical skills or expertise needed for a short-term project or assignment. These contracts are perfect for those who want to contribute their knowledge to a particular task without committing to a long-term employment agreement.
